Hospitals, such as the Socola Psychiatric Institute in Iași, report a doubling of admissions and a 40% increase in patients diagnosed with depression in the last three years. The issue of underdiagnosis is exacerbated by the fear of stigmatization and limited access to mental health services.

Mental disorders have negative effects not only on the individual but also on the family and community, generating economic and social losses. The costs of treatment, including consultations and medications, are high, and psychotherapy is not covered by insurance, limiting access to help. Experts warn that undiagnosed conditions can lead to social isolation and increased risks, including suicide.

To combat these issues, doctors recommend a balanced lifestyle, regular physical exercise, adequate sleep, and reducing screen exposure. Additionally, social interaction and emotional support are essential. Mental health prevention is crucial for the overall well-being of young people.
