Young people in Romania are increasingly facing burnout, a state of physical and emotional exhaustion caused by overwork. Dr. Ioana Silion, a senior psychiatrist, emphasizes that they neglect their personal and social lives, becoming irritable and having sleep problems. Changing jobs or lifestyle is difficult, and employers should pay more attention to how they distribute tasks.

Symptoms of burnout include changes in behavior, irritability, and substance use to cope with stress. Dr. Silion recommends prevention and awareness of mental health, so that employees feel safe to ask for help. Burnout is treated symptomatically, and those affected may withdraw socially or quit their jobs. It is essential for employers to create a work environment that supports the mental health of employees.
