Ilie Bolojan stated that the postponement of decisions by the Constitutional Court (CCR) on the issue of pensions is caused by a 'blocking minority' and emphasized the importance of a quick solution to avoid delays. He mentioned that the draft law does not target a specific professional category, but responds to a need for social equity and budgetary sustainability.

The Prime Minister argued that early retirements at ages 48-52 are hard to justify, considering that most Romanians work until the age of 65. Moreover, he insisted on the inevitability of raising the retirement age to ensure a sustainable pension system. Bolojan avoided commenting on the political connections of the CCR judges, emphasizing that decisions should be independent.

He concluded that blockages in decision-making are abnormal for a constitutional court and highlighted the responsibility of judges to be present at meetings. The next CCR meeting is scheduled for January 16.
