During the NewMoney Talks 2026 event, Alexandru Rafila, former Minister of Health, discussed the importance of the flu vaccination, emphasizing that to slow the transmission of the flu infection in Romania, it is necessary for between 3 and 5 million people to be vaccinated. Currently, only 1.2 million flu vaccinations have been recorded between 29.09.2025 – 18.12.2025.

Rafila mentioned that, historically, Romania has had low vaccination coverage, with a maximum of 2.1 million doses administered, representing only 10-11% of the population. Children, through their interactions with adults, can significantly contribute to the spread of the flu virus, Rafila added at the launch of the INSCOP survey: "The attitude of parents and grandparents regarding the flu vaccination of children", highlighting the need for parents to encourage the vaccination of children to protect public health.
