A group of 20 doctors from the Constanța County Emergency Clinical Hospital sent an open letter to the authorities, contesting the dismantling of a guard line at the Obstetrics-Gynecology Department. They warn that reducing the number of doctors from 3 to 2 will severely affect medical assistance for mothers and newborns in the county.
The decision was issued on May 28, and the doctors claim that they were not consulted regarding this change. The reorganization was carried out to establish a guard line for Gastroenterology, which, according to the doctors, compromises the rapid interventions necessary in obstetrics. They request the suspension of the decision and verification of its legality by the Ministry of Health.
Representatives of the Constanța County Council state that the reorganization was carried out according to medical needs, without affecting the continuity of care in Obstetrics-Gynecology. The doctors emphasize that interventions in cases of obstetrical emergencies are critical and cannot be postponed.
