In 2024, the rate of childhood vaccination against diseases such as measles and pertussis remained below pre-pandemic levels in the WHO European Region, with 79% coverage for DTP1 vaccine in Romania. This has led to an increased number of vulnerable children and an increase in measles and whooping cough cases. Although newer vaccines, such as those against HPV, have made progress, overall coverage remains insufficient to prevent epidemics. The organizations call for urgent action to improve vaccine coverage.
