World's first song created by a quantum computer and AI has been released

A new era in music has just begun - and it's not coming from a recording studio, but from the universe of quantum physics.

UK tech startup Moth has released the track "Recources" in collaboration with British electronic music artist ILĀ. It is touted as the first commercially available song created using "generative artificial intelligence powered by quantum technology."

"Resources" certainly sounds otherworldly. You can listen to it on all the major streaming platforms, including Spotify.

Can AI translate animal sounds into words? Tech experts hope so

A tech company in China has revealed that it is exploring the possibility of using AI to translate animal sounds into human speech.

Baidu, the owner of China's largest search engine, has filed a patent with China's National Intellectual Property Administration.

The patent is for a system that collects data from animals, such as vocal sounds, behavior and physiological signals. These would then be processed and combined, before an AI system analyzes the data to recognize the animal's emotional state.

Google launches AI tools to protect Chrome users from scams

Google has announced that it is launching new AI-based defenses to help you fight Chrome scans. The tech giant will start using Gemini Nano, its on-device, desktop-running LLM model, to protect against online scams. Google is also rolling out new AI-based alerts for Chrome on Android to warn you about spam notifications.

According to Google, the Enhanced Protection mode in Safe Browsing offers the highest level of protection, providing twice the defense against phishing and other online threats compared to the Standard Protection mode.

Chatbots have minimal impact on search engine traffic

AI bots have had a barely noticeable impact on traffic to popular search engine sites over the past two years, according to a study by SEO and backlink services firm OneLittleWeb.

The study analyzed global web traffic from April 2023 through March 2025. In the last year, chatbots sites accounted for just 2.96% of search engine visits. Between April 2024 and March 2025, search engine traffic fell only slightly - by 0.51% to 1.86 trillion visits - while chatbots saw an 80.92% year-on-year increase in traffic.

The modest decline suggests that despite rapid growth, AI chatbots are not yet significantly replacing classic search behavior.

ChatGPT's advanced search tool gets a GitHub connector to answer code questions

OpenAI enhances its AI-driven "deep search" feature with the ability to analyze code from GitHub.

OpenAI announced what it calls the first "connector" for deep search in ChatGPT, a tool that searches the web and other sources to create comprehensive research reports on a topic. ChatGPT can now be connected to GitHub (in beta), allowing you to ask questions about a code or technical docs.

The connector will be available for ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Team users in the coming days, with support for Enterprise and Edu versions to follow soon.

Google identifies new malware linked to Russian hacker group

Google said Wednesday that it has identified new malware called "LOSTKEYS" linked to the Cold River hacker group in Russia that is capable of stealing files and sending system information to attackers.

The malware "represents a new stage in the arsenal" of the Cold River guys, Wesley Shields, a researcher with Google's threat intelligence group, said in a blog post.

OpenAI hires former Facebook chief

OpenAI has hired Fidji Simo, CEO of Instacart and former Facebook app chief, to lead its app division. In a post on X, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the introduction of the new role will allow him to "focus on research, computing power and security."

After joining Facebook in 2011, the company appointed Simo as Facebook's head of apps in 2019. She oversaw features such as News Feed, Stories, live video and more, helping to grow the company's advertising area. Instacart hired Simo as CEO in 2021, and she led the company's public listing efforts two years later.

Clicks on Safari fell for the first time

Clicks on Apple's Safari browser fell last month for the first time, and Apple vice president Eddy Cue blamed AI. "It hasn't happened in 22 years," Cue said.

"People are using AI," Cue said Wednesday during the DOJ's antitrust lawsuit against Google, calling it a fundamental shift that is eroding the dominance of traditional search.

Apple's plan to add AI search options to Safari attacks Google's dominance

Apple's plans to add AI-based search options to its Safari browser is a major blow to Google, whose Ads business relies heavily on iPhone users using its search engine.

The news caused a 7.3% drop in shares of parent company Alphabet, which wiped about $150 billion off its market value.

New AI glasses from Meta could have a "super-sensory" mode with facial recognition

Meta is developing what it describes as "super-sensory" software capable of recognizing people by name, according to The Information. The company is reportedly working on two smart glasses models for next year, internally named Aperol and Bellini, and recently overhauled its processes for assessing privacy and security risks to launch products faster.

In addition to facial recognition, Meta's AI software - activated with the command "Hey Meta, start live AI" - could end up reminding you to pick up your keys if it noticed you forgot them or reminding you to buy groceries on the way home. The "super-sensory" feature keeps cameras and sensors active at all times, so the AI can keep track of everything you do.

Apple is collaborating with Anthropic to develop an AI programming platform

According to Bloomberg, Apple is collaborating with Anthropic to create a generative AI platform designed for writing, editing and testing code. Internally, it's called a "vibe-coding" tool and is built on Apple's Xcode development environment, integrating Anthropic's Claude Sonnet model.

Although it is currently intended for internal use, Apple has not ruled out a public release.

Google will soon allow children to use Gemini AI

Google is preparing to allow children access to Gemini AI apps on monitored Android devices, according to a report by The New York Times. Parents using Family Link controls have started receiving emails informing them of the change.

Kids will be able to use Gemini to do homework or read stories. Google emphasizes that, as with Workspace for Education accounts, children's data will not be used to train AI. However, the company warns that Gemini can make mistakes, and children could see inappropriate content.

Study: Chatbots don't offer reliable health advice

With long waiting lists and rising costs in healthcare systems, more and more people are turning to AI chatbots like ChatGPT for medical self-diagnosis. A recent survey shows that about one in six American adults already use chatbots monthly for health advice.

But over-reliance on these tools can be risky. A new Oxford-led study found that people have difficulty communicating effectively with chatbots, which affects the quality of the recommendations they receive.

Amazon unveils Vulcan: the robot that "feels" like humans

Amazon has introduced Vulcan, a next-generation warehouse robot with a sense of touch - thanks to AI and advanced force sensors. This new robot can now handle about three-quarters of the items stored in Amazon's warehouses, a task previously largely done by humans.

"Vulcan represents a fundamental leap in robotics," said Aaron Parness, director of applied science at Amazon. "It's no longer just about seeing the world, it's about feeling it - which opens doors to things we couldn't do before."

An AI radio host fooled listeners for months on an Australian station

For several months, an AI-generated DJ hosted a show on a major radio station in Australia - and almost no one realized it. The Workdays with Thy show airs on Sydney's CADA station and features a four-hour mix of hip hop, R&B and pop.

Although the show was broadcast regularly, there was no public indication that "Thy", the host, was not a real person.

According to the Australian Financial Review and Sydney Morning Herald, ARN Media - which owns the station - confirmed that Thy is an AI-generated voice modeled after a real employee in the finance department and created with ElevenLabs technology.

Australian tech brand Kuxiu has launched the KUXIU S2 - the world's first semi-solid external battery for smartphones, compatible with MagSafe for iPhone.

The compact 5,000 mAh battery supports Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W. With a capacity of 19Wh at 3.8V, it provides enough power to fully charge older iPhone models and nearly fully charge an iPhone 15 Pro.

Figma's major AI update challenges Adobe, WordPress and Canva

Figma is expanding its creative software ecosystem to allow you, as a product designer, to complete full projects without relying on third-party apps.
