Many brands, institutions, public figures and events in the economic area are standing out by sudden increases in online visibility. Using NewsVibe, a smart digital monitoring tool, we have tracked the recent evolution of the online presence of actors relevant to the Romanian economy. Based on 9,536 articles and posts from the online press and social networks, we identified the entities with the fastest growing visibility, outlining the emerging directions and rising topics that have influenced public discussions about the economy in the last week.

  • The new Govern led by Ilie Bolojan has entered the spotlight by announcing a package of austerity measures aimed at cutting budget bonuses and restructuring state companies.

Radu Miru Miruță, Minister of Economy and Digitalization, announced a wide-ranging audit of loss-making state-owned companies to check whether structures that consume public money can still be sustained and what restructuring measures are needed. At the same time, he announced the unblocking of outstanding Start-Up Nation program files so that firms waiting for funds can receive the promised payments.

Finance Minister, Alexandru Nazare, sent the Finance Ministry's Control Body to Constanta Customs, after reports emerged about problems related to bottlenecks and delays in customs activity.

The European Council was held in Brussels, where the Romanian President met with Ursula von der Leyen and discussed the country's economic situation, deficit reduction, the NRRP and the support given to Romania within the European Union.

The BP group has become a major topic of analysis in the economic press amid reports that Shell is preparing a major takeover bid, estimated at 80 billion dollars.

The Romanian Banking Employers' Council (CPBR) has reacted critically to the idea of an additional tax on high profits in the banking sector, arguing that banks already contribute through higher taxes and warning that a higher tax burden could reduce lending capacity and investor confidence.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) recently published a draft extension of the cap on the trade surcharge on staple foods, a measure complemented by the extension of restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), the Romanian car market recorded the steepest decline in the European Union in May, in contrast to the accelerated growth in registrations at European level.

AROBS Transilvania Software has announced the most ambitious acquisition in its history, taking 70% of US company Codingscape, a move that sees the Cluj-based group expand its presence in the US market.
