Digital Duel by NewsVibe. TOP 5 parties in the Romanian online space, in the last week

The passing of the presidential elections has naturally brought a decrease in the intensity of political debates in the media and online space. This does not mean, however, that political life has remained lack of dynamism, as a result of the reactions generated in recent days by the election results, the procedures for the swearing in of Nicușor Dan as President or the preparation of political parties for the official launch of discussions on the formation of a parliamentary majority and a new Government.
Even in this context, in which political developments remained in the foreground, the data aggregated and analyzed with NewsVibe, an advanced media intelligence tool with AI support, shows that, except for the cases of PNL and SOS Romania, which recorded slight increases compared to the previous week, for the rest of the top parties the number of mentions decreased in the most relevant online sources.
The largest decreases were registered in the cases of AUR and PSD. The number of mentions of AUR fell by more than 65% and of PSD by about 26%. Thus, AUR drops from first place in the previous top, to third position, behind PSD and PNL.
Top 5 parties by online visibility
- Social Democratic Party - 2,718 mentions
- National Liberal Party - 1,665 mentions
- Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor - 1,521 mentions
- Save Romania Union - 1,105 mentions
- SOS Romania - 134 mentions
Note - only mentions from relevant online and social media sources (sources validated by the NewsVibe platform)
VOLVOLUME OF MENTIONS.The virtual curve of the evolution of mentions over the last seven days shows that the parties have seen distinct evolutions during this period. Thus, the peaks for PSD were generated by the party's messages on its positioning in the perspective of negotiations for the formation of the new Government; for PNL - on the day of the 150th anniversary of the party's foundation; for AUR - on the day of the validation of the presidential elections, when George Simion went to Poland; and for USR - with the announcement by Dominic Fritz that the party will have a candidate for the Bucharest mayoral elections and the expression of its willingness to enter the government.

COMPETITIVE COMPARISON NewsVibe's competitive analysis engine evaluates the strength of political actors to penetrate the online space, directly compared to their competitors.
After the presidential election moment has passed, there is a gradual return to the trends seen in the weeks leading up to the election campaign. Thus, although mentions of PSD and PNL account for 38% and 23% of the total respectively, their estimated impact is lower, at only 34% and 17% of the total.
In contrast, although mentions of AUR and USR account for 21% and 15% of the total, their estimated impact is around 26% and 19%. A direct comparison shows that the impact of AUR mentions is significantly higher than that of PNL mentions, although the actual number of PNL mentions is higher.

IMPACT. At the impact level - defined as the estimate of the total audience reached by the mentions about the political actors analyzed - the virtual curve shows the same distinct evolution of the parties, but also that the moments that generated the most mentions do not always coincide with the peaks of the mentions' impact.
An example of this is the mentions of the PNL: the peak of the impact of mentions of this party occurs on the day of the appointment of the liberal Stelian Bujduveanu as interim mayor of the capital. Also, although March 26, the day Nicușor Dan took office as president, was not the day with the most mentions of AUR, the impact was very high.

NETWORK ANALYSIS. The tool created by NewsVibe - semantic network analysis - uses an intuitive visual format to quickly highlight connections between actors, themes and concepts, based on their co-occurrence in mentions collected from the most influential online sources in Romania. Thus, NewsVibe applies advanced artificial intelligence methods to build interaction maps that highlight the central actors of a conversation, how they are connected to each other, the clusters of themes, concepts and influencers (personalities and organizations) that form around a topic.

What does semantic network analysis of the parties show us? The graph generated by NewsVibe for the parties included in the analysis - based on data monitored over the last week - provides an interesting insight into the digital landscape:
- There are three distinct zones of online conversation: around PSD, around AUR and around PNL.
- The three zones reflect a heightened concern about negotiations for the next government in the area of online conversation about PSD and Nicușor Dan; a maintaining of AUR in the area of campaign narratives and contesting the election result and its legitimacy, as well as movements to contest the leader; a heightened concern about the role of Ilie Bolojan in a new government, but also of the PNL.
SENTIMENT. The advanced sentiment analytics system created by the NewsVibe platform uses artificial intelligence, specially trained algorithms and LLM-like language models to detect nuances of tone - favorable, unfavorable or neutral - in the context of references to entities relevant to an online conversation.

The analysis applied to mentions about parties highlights that in the last week, entities such as PSD, AUR and George Simion, predominantly marked in red, were mostly discussed in a negative context - a reflection of critical reactions, accusations and controversies generated by the election results, internal party tensions and recent comments about leaders (including Ciolacu and Grindeanu).
In contrast, Nicușor Dan has a more balanced ratio between positive (majority) and negative mentions, while Ilie Bolojan is clearly dominated by positive mentions.
