Digital Duel by NewsVibe. TOP 5 parties in the Romanian online space, in the last week

In the last seven days, there has been a decrease in the intensity of media coverage of the main political parties, also reflected in the relevant online sources. If for AUR there is a slight decrease in the number of mentions in the online space, for PSD, PNL, USR and SOS Romania the decreases are considerable.
According to data aggregated and analyzed with NewsVibe, an advanced media intelligence tool with AI support, compared to the previous week, the number of mentions about PSD, PNL and USR decreased by 65%, 70% and 72% respectively, while SOS Romania registered less than 100 mentions. Against this backdrop, AUR takes the lead, clearly detaching itself from the rest of its competitors.
One of the explanations for these evolutions is the fact that AUR is the only party that still has an official candidate in the presidential elections. Although Nicușor Dan is backed by USR, he is officially an independent candidate, a fact also reflected by online sources. Last but not least, the leading political parties have significantly reduced their public communication after the first round of the presidential elections.
Top 5 parties by online visibility
- Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor- 3,279 mentions
- Social Democratic Party - 1.693 mentions
- National Liberal Party - 1,040 mentions
- Save Romania Union - 616 mentions
- SOS Romania - 93 mentions

VOLVOLUME OF MENTIONS The virtual curve of the evolution of mentions over the last seven days shows that AUR has steadily maintained its lead over the rest of the top parties, consolidating its lead towards the end of the period. The peak of visibility for AUR was generated by the presence of George Simion at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, followed by his participation in the rally of a presidential candidate in Poland, in parallel with the accusations circulated in the online space regarding his absence from the debates with Nicușor Dan.
In contrast, the other parties did not register notable spikes in visibility, an indication of a low intensity of public communication, despite the ongoing electoral campaign. The main parties do not seem to have made any efforts to generate media attention during this period, with most online sources also focusing more on candidates directly involved in the campaign and less on political parties.

COMPETITIVE COMPARISON. The competitive analysis engine created by NewsVibe evaluates the strength of political actors to penetrate the online space, directly compared to their competitors.
Over the past seven days, AUR's dominance in terms of the number of mentions is categorical - almost half of all mentions are about this party. However, the impact of mentions about AUR in the total number of mentions is only 44%.
For the first time since the start of these analyses, the estimated impact of mentions of the PNL, relative to the total, is higher than their actual share of the total number of mentions - 18% compared to 15%. In the case of PSD, the estimated impact out of the total is almost equivalent to the proportion of mentions dedicated to this party, as in the case of SOS Romania. For USR, there is a similar trend as for AUR, with the impact of mentions being proportionally higher than their actual volume in the total.

IMPACT. At the impact level - defined as the estimate of the total audience reached by mentions about the political actors analyzed - the virtual curve shows a slightly more balanced ratio between AUR and the rest of the parties, although mentions about the party led by George Simion had a higher impact throughout the interval.
The most important impact peak for PSD, PNL and USR was recorded at the beginning of the interval, on the day of the Euronews debate, among the remaining candidates in the race for the Romanian presidency, while AUR increased especially at the end of the interval.
The PSD saw an important peak of impact on May 12, when Nicușor Dan commented on the hypothesis of a AUR-PSD government, with Călin Georgescu as Prime Minister, and the scenario in which the Social Democrats would ask him for a new mandate at the head of the Government.

ACCELERATING TRENDS.
