DIGITAL DUEL by NewsVibe. TOP 5 matches in the Romanian online space, in the last week

The last week has brought a concentration of political debate around the government and, in particular, the measures decided by the new executive to reduce the budget deficit. In spite of the impression of an intense and polarized debate, the attention paid to the parties has in fact been declining. This was also felt in the most relevant online sources in Romania, where the number of mentions of the main parties decreased, the only exception being SOS Romania.
According to data analyzed with NewsVibe, an artificial intelligence-based real-time monitoring software for online conversations, compared to slast week, the most consistent decreases were registered in PSD (over 60%), USR (over 250%) and AUR (over 44%).
These decreases also led to changes in the ranking of the top five parliamentary parties: the PNL moved into first place, ahead of PSD and USR, after being in third place in the previous interval, and SOS Romania moved up for the first time, overtaking AUR.
Top 5 parties by online visibility

- Social Democratic Party - 1,256 mentions
- Save Romania Union - 738 mentions
- SOS Romania - 273 mentions
- Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor - 249 mentions
Note - only mentions from relevant online and social media sources (sources validated by the NewsVibe platform)
ComPARTIVE VISIBILITY AND IMPACT. The competitive analysis engine created by NewsVibe evaluates the strength of political actors to penetrate the online space, directly compared to their competitors.
While mentions of PNL account for 35% of the total number, PSD for 33% and USR for 19%, their estimated impact is only 32%, 31% and 16% respectively. In contrast, while mentions of AUR and SOS Romania account for only 6% and 7% of the total respectively, their predicted impact is 10% and 12% respectively.

NETWORK ANALYSIS. The tool created by NewsVibe - semantic network analysis - allows visualizing the relationships between topics, personalities and themes, based on their co-appearance in the mentions collected from the most influential online sources in Romania. NewsVibe applies advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to build interaction maps that highlight: the central actors of a conversation, how they are connected to each other, the clusters of topics, concepts and influencers (personalities and organizations) that have formed around an event, topic or idea.

What the analysis shows:
- The community of entities that has the PSD at its center (with green in the graph) remains one of the largest and densest. Associated nodes, such as Oana Țoiu, show an interesting surprise: although Țoiu is a USR-appointed foreign minister, she appears associated in this cluster mainly due to the frequency with which her decision on the recall from her diplomatic post of the daughter of a former PSD MP was picked up.
- The entity cluster centered on PNL (in blue) is highly visible and has two dominant nodes: PNL and Ilie Bolojan. The National Council of the PNL and the UDMR appear in close proximity. This structuring reflects the internal organization of the PNL, especially in the context of the event held in the run-up to the party's Congress this month.
- The debate zone including Romania and USR (in red) contains important associated nodes such as Nicușor Dan, Radu Miruța and Bucha Bucharest.
- The area of entities dominated by AUR and George Simion (with turquoise in the graph) is narrower, but well-defined. Links with communities centered on PSD, USR and PNL show that AUR was present in conversations related to criticizing or commenting on the main parties' decisions.
- A distinct community of topics, centered on Mihai Busuioc, CCR, Senate and Courtea Constituțională(with indigo in the graph), refers to legal and institutional topics. Mihai Busuioc was recently appointed judge at the CCR, which has generated critical reactions in the public space. The vote for his appointment was supported by PSD, PNL and USR, a detail that explains the visibility of this cluster and its multiple connections to the major parties.
SENTIMENT. NewsVibe's platform has created an advanced sentiment analysis system that uses artificial intelligence, specially trained algorithms, and LLM-like language models to detect nuances of tone - favorable, unfavorable, or neutral - in the context of references to entities relevant to an online conversation.
Grafic NewsVibe. Automated online conversation tone ratings of the top 5 parliamentary parties by week
What the analysis shows:
- PSD is one of the most prominent terms, visible in the unfavorable tone zone.
- PNL was mentioned in mixed tone conversations, with the negative tone being stronger.
- AUR and George Simion are present in conversations with a predominantly negative tone, frequently associated with conflictual or contentious themes.
- USR appears with a mixed tone, distributed between favorable and critical conversations. Terms such as "USR Ministers", "Dominic Fritz", "Oana Țoiu", "Ionuț Moșteanu" suggest USR's participation in varied debates, as a governmental actor exposed to both support and criticism.
- Ilie Bolojan is visibly mixed in tone. The terms "Ilie Bolojan", "Bolojan", "Bolojan Government" are present both in favorable conversations (related to the beginning of the mandate and political support) and in critical ones (related to fiscal measures or administrative decisions). This distribution indicates high interest and intense debate.
- Romania was frequently mentioned in a positive context, alongside terms such as "National Flag Day", "Tricolor", "National Flag", "Romanian people", "European Union", "Europe", reflecting conversations with a favorable tone, related to identity and symbolic themes.
- Mihai Busuioc and "Court of Auditors", as well as CCR, appear in the red zone, a sign of critical conversations.
