Romania ranks 11th in the list of the most powerful passports in the world, according to the Henley Passport Index, having visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 178 destinations. This performance highlights the freedom of movement of Romanian citizens, who benefit from a superior position compared to other states in the region. Alongside Bulgaria, which holds the same position, Romania strengthens its status on the global mobility map. The ranking is led by Singapore, with visa-free access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates in 2nd place. European countries such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain are in 4th place, highlighting the strength of European passports. In contrast, Afghanistan is in last place, having visa-free access to only 22 destinations. This hierarchy reflects not only the freedom of travel but also the global influence of the respective states.
