The draft letter, initiated by Polish MEP Bogdan Zdrojewski, has been distributed for approval by the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education. Infantino is accused of a lack of transparency in FIFA's leadership and is invited to answer questions from MEPs.

His plan involves selling stakes of up to 20% to external investors, including Joshua Kushner, the brother-in-law of Donald Trump. FIFA claims that the plan must be analyzed by all national federations, but all 55 European federations have unanimously opposed it. MEPs have expressed their concerns about FIFA's leadership and the lack of consultations, emphasizing that the announcement was made shortly before the presidential elections in 2027, when Infantino intends to run again.
