More than 70 associations and companies from the European energy sector have called for the introduction of a "Stop-The-Clock" mechanism to delay the implementation of certain provisions of the EU Regulation on methane emissions. Industry representatives argue that the current rules, which are set to apply to imports of natural gas, oil, and coal starting in 2027, could affect energy security, economic competitiveness, and energy prices. According to the Energy Employers' Federation, there is a risk of reducing the availability of significant volumes of fuels in the European market, while the European Commission is considering the possibility of introducing exemptions and flexibility measures for the affected companies.
