The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that Hungary will benefit from the unlocking of 10 billion euros, following the fulfillment of key conditions by the Hungarian authorities. This amount includes grants and favorable loans from the European Recovery Fund.

Additionally, von der Leyen mentioned that 4.2 billion euros from cohesion funds, previously frozen due to concerns related to the rule of law, have been unlocked. Hungary could receive an additional 2.2 billion euros from cohesion funds, depending on the completion of the reforms requested by Brussels. This decision marks significant support from the European Union for the new Hungarian administration, in contrast to the previous period when European funding was blocked due to disputes over the respect for the rule of law.
