The European Union intends to significantly expand the sanctions imposed on Russia in the coming months, according to an announcement made by Kaja Kallas, the head of EU diplomacy, in an interview with a German newspaper. This measure comes in response to Russia's actions in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and is part of the EU's ongoing efforts to maintain pressure on Moscow. Kallas emphasized the importance of unity and determination among member states in the face of current challenges.

The expansion of sanctions will target key economic sectors and will include additional measures to limit Russia's ability to finance its military activities. These decisions will be discussed and approved at upcoming meetings of European leaders.
