The European People's Party (EPP) group has decided to exclude Slovenian MEP Branko Grims from its ranks, announced by liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan. This decision was made following Grims' repeated deviations from the group's values and rules, including collaboration with the far right and support for their initiatives.

Mureșan emphasized that the exclusion is a difficult but necessary measure to maintain the integrity of the group. Grims has supported motions of censure against the European Commission and has made public statements that contradict the values of the rule of law.

Although he remains an MEP, he will occupy a seat in the last row of the plenary, alongside non-affiliated MEPs, thus losing the advantages associated with membership in the most influential political group in the European Parliament. This decision reflects the EPP's commitment to pro-European values and the responsibilities of its members.
