His popularity is being watched internationally, given Romania's role in NATO and the EU. Simion, who aligns ideologically with Trump, has pledged to give a leading role to Călin Georgescu, and supports the restoration of democracy. Politico warns that his victory could destabilize Romania, given his irredentist views and opposition to military aid for Ukraine.
