17:00 The downward trend in voter turnout in the first round of the presidential elections of May 4, 2025, compared to the figures of November 2024, persists

In the first 10 hours after the opening of polling stations in Romania, 6,310,363 Romanians voted nationwide. Out of these, 3,541,983 were in urban areas and 2,768,380 in rural areas.

In comparison, in the first 10 hours of the 2019 presidential elections, 6,910,900 voted in the first round ( 3,979,744 votes were cast in urban areas and 2,931,156 in rural areas).

In the first 10 hours of the 2024 presidential elections, 6,910,900 voted in the first round.853,660 Romanians (3,768,165 in urban areas and 3,085,495 in rural areas).

In the Diaspora, 797,360 Romanians voted by 5 p.m., compared to 617,239 in November 2024 or 551,154 in the first round of the 2019 presidential elections.
