The United Kingdom will rejoin the Erasmus+ program in 2027, according to a press release in the presence of the Vice President of the European Commission, Roxana Menzatu. This return will reopen access to an essential educational mobility program for students, pupils, teachers, and young people from volunteer organizations.

Menzatu emphasized the importance of inclusion, stating that Erasmus+ should become a right for all young Europeans, not just a limited opportunity. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, highlighted the benefits of mutual educational ties between Europe and the United Kingdom.

This decision fulfills the commitment made during the EU-UK summit in May 2025 and will involve the designation of a British national agency to manage participation in the program. Alongside the 27 EU member states, other countries such as Iceland and Norway are already participating in Erasmus+.
