The 43rd edition of the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad will take place between May 3 and 8, 2026, in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The Ministry of Education announced the remarkable results of Romanian students: Andrei Vila won a gold medal, David-Vlad Marghidan obtained a silver medal, while Mircea Maxim Rebengiuc, Ștefan-Cătălin Savu, Aida Mitroi, and Ciobotea Alexandru each won a bronze medal. The Romanian team was coordinated by Cătălin Gherghe from the University of Bucharest, with Ovidiu Sontea as the deputy.
The competition included teams from 12 member countries, including Romania, and from 14 invited countries, thus demonstrating an increased international interest in mathematics.
