On Tuesday, the Minister of Education, Daniel David, presented a package of measures before the Senate Education Committee, aimed at reducing school dropout rates and supporting vulnerable students. Among his proposals are the continuation of the 'Warm Meal' Program, essential for students from disadvantaged communities, and adapting the educational system to the current needs of students.
The minister emphasized the importance of remedial education and announced a plan for integrating Artificial Intelligence in schools. He also proposed the introduction of two optional subjects: one for a healthy lifestyle and another for psychological self-regulation, considering the emotional health issues among young people.
Regarding rural education, David suggested a mixed system, inspired by the Finnish model, to integrate students from small localities into larger schools.
Another important aspect was regulating the time dedicated to homework, limiting it to a maximum of two hours per day, with one hour for primary cycle and no homework for preparatory classes. The new regulation prohibits using homework as punishment and encourages constant feedback from students and parents to improve the educational process.
