Education Minister Daniel David has said he does not intend to remove history from the national curriculum, stressing that it is essential that students do not have a misperception of Romanian history. From the 2025-2026 school year, high school students will once again study Romanian History and Geography. David noted that it was not a matter of elimination, but of reorganizing the classes to ensure better understanding, given that approximately 50% of high school graduates are functionally illiterate.
