The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) ranks 101–150 worldwide in Economics, according to the 2026 edition of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). The university also retains its position as the national leader, ranking first among the Romanian higher education institutions evaluated in this field.
The result confirms ASE’s steady progress over the past three years. The university ranked 301–400 in 2024, 201–300 in 2025, and 101–150 in 2026, advancing through two ranking bands in just two editions.
ASE Rector Prof. Nicolae Istudor, PhD, said that the performance reflects the efforts of the academic community and the institution’s goal of strengthening its international prestige through the best possible positioning in the ShanghaiRanking, Times Higher Education, and QS rankings.
The 2026 edition of the GRAS ranking analyzes universities from approximately 100 countries across 57 academic subjects. The evaluation considers indicators related to internationally recognized faculty, research output, the quality and impact of publications, and international collaboration.
