The German group Volkswagen has announced a 'recall' action for nearly 100,000 electric vehicles, of which approximately 28,000 are located in Germany, due to issues related to the battery modules.

The information, taken by the Reuters agency from the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA), targets about 75,000 fully electric cars from the Volkswagen ID family and nearly 20,000 Cupra Born units, manufactured between February 2022 and August 2024.

The identified issues include high-voltage battery modules that do not meet specifications, which can lead to a decrease in vehicle range and, in severe cases, the risk of a fire occurring.

The manufacturer will carry out, at its own expense, a software update on the affected vehicles, will inspect the high-voltage battery, and will replace defective modules if necessary.
