In the second quarter of 2025, Romania recorded 8.22 million active persons, with an unemployment rate of 6%, decreasing compared to the previous quarter.

According to INS data, in the second quarter of 2025, the active population of Romania was 8.22 million people, of which 7.73 million had jobs, and 489,800 were unemployed. The employment rate among people aged 20-64 increased to 69.3%. Young people (15-24 years) recorded the highest unemployment rate, at 22.9%. Additionally, the overall unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, with notable differences between urban and rural areas.
