In August 2025, the unemployment rate rose to 5.9%, with a total of 481,000 unemployed, the majority being men.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August 2025 was 5.9%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to July. The total number of unemployed was estimated at 481,000, an increase compared to 471,200 in July and 464,700 in August 2024. The unemployment rate is higher for men (6.2%) than for women (5.5%), and among young people (15-24 years) it reached an alarming level of 23.5%. For adults (25-74 years), the rate was 4.7%.
