The majority shareholder of the National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB), the Romanian state through the Ministry of Transport, has decided to buy the remaining shares held by the Proprietatea Fund, which will lead to the renationalization of the company. The negative vote from Franklin Templeton did not influence the decision, and CNAB, owned 80% by the state, will initiate negotiations for the acquisition of the minority stake. The Proprietatea Fund proposed listing CNAB to obtain financing, but the proposals were rejected. CNAB reported in 2024 a turnover of 1.38 billion lei and a net profit of 608 million lei. The Proprietatea Fund, managed by Franklin Templeton, has a significant value of its assets in CNAB, but the Romanian state remains the majority shareholder.
