The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, stated that there is no hypothesis of increasing VAT for 2026 and that no other taxes are projected for this year.

He emphasized that the financial problems from previous years were caused by a faulty budgetary construction, which led to the depletion of salary budgets in certain agencies and ministries. Nazare assured that in the current budget projection, an increase in VAT was not taken into account and stressed the necessity of rigorous fiscal discipline. He explained that a correct budgetary construction is essential to avoid financial surprises throughout the year, ensuring predictability and stability.
