The Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, highlighted the negative impact of removing the cap on commercial markups, estimating an inflation rate of nearly 15% by the end of the year. He explained that, starting in 2023, the capping contributed to reducing inflation from 15.5% to 6.5%. Barbu mentioned that prices have decreased by 7-33% due to this measure and emphasized the political responsibility regarding potential price increases. He also indicated that, in the absence of consensus within the governing coalition, an amendment will be proposed to extend the capping.
