The Romanian government recently adopted a resolution to rebalance cooperation with OMV Petrom for a period of 15 years, establishing a principle agreement aimed at strengthening the country's energy independence. Among the results obtained in negotiations are a 40% increase in royalties for oil and gas, the assumption of environmental responsibilities by OMV Petrom, and the company's withdrawal from litigation against the Romanian state. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized the importance of this agreement for ensuring a predictable energy market and for increasing state revenues. Additionally, Romania will extend the exploration period of the Black Sea perimeter by two years and will extend the exploitation licenses by 15 years. OMV Petrom will commit to respecting national interests and competition principles, and the details of the agreement will be published in the next two months.
