In February 2026, the agricultural trade surplus of the European Union increased to 4.4 billion euros, representing a 43% advance compared to the previous month, according to the European Commission's report. However, for the first two months of the year, the cumulative surplus remained steady at 7.4 billion euros, similar to the same period in 2025, due to weak performances in certain sectors.
The EU's agri-food exports reached 18.8 billion euros in February, 6% more than in January, but a decrease of 4% compared to February 2025. The United Kingdom was the main export destination, although deliveries fell by 336 million euros. Imports decreased to 14.5 billion euros, down 1% from the previous month and 5% from last year, with the largest declines in cocoa and cereal products. Imports from Ivory Coast fell by 29%, while those from Vietnam increased by 31%, mainly due to coffee.
