NewPrinces will acquire Carrefour Italy for 1 billion euros, while Poland is analyzing the acquisition of the Carrefour network to create a national retail chain.

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of Carrefour Italy by the Italian group NewPrinces, in a transaction worth 1 billion euros, considering that there are no competition issues. This acquisition will transform NewPrinces into the second largest player in Italy by revenue and a leader in terms of number of employees, with 13,000 employees in the country. NewPrinces, which has rapidly grown in recent years, will expand its operations in the food distribution sector, already having production facilities in several countries.

In Poland, the government is analyzing the possibility of acquiring the Carrefour network, which includes nearly 850 stores, to create the first national retail network controlled by the state. The Ministry of Agriculture has recommended this acquisition, arguing that it would strengthen the position of Polish producers and stabilize food prices. Carrefour operates a complex network in Poland, including hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores, making its operation one of the most developed in Central Europe.
