The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has arrived in New Delhi to discuss the finalization of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and India. This visit is considered an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two entities, which together represent approximately two billion people and a quarter of the global GDP. The EU delegation, which also includes the head of diplomacy Kaja Kallas, will participate in the celebrations of Indian Republic Day and the 17th EU-India bilateral summit. In addition to the trade agreement, discussions will also focus on investments in areas such as digital technology and green energy, as well as the mobility of workers and researchers. If the agreement is signed, it will mark the completion of a diplomatic process of nearly two decades, which has been complicated by divergences related to patent protection and customs duties.
