The Brokers Association emphasizes the importance of maintaining the current tax rates at source for income from capital market transactions, which are 1% for holdings longer than one year and 3% for shorter ones. These regulations, in effect since January 2023, have contributed to an increase in the number of individual investors and the de-bureaucratization of tax procedures. Brokers argue that changing this framework would create fiscal instability and affect the development of the capital market in Romania, in contrast to other EU states that are reducing taxes to support the economy.
