The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has published its report on inflation, announcing an increase in the annual inflation forecast for 2026 from 5.0% to 7.0% and for 2027 from 4.5% to 5.8%. It is expected that annual inflation will rise this year, reaching the upper limit of the fluctuation range in the second quarter of 2026, but will exceed this limit in the following three quarters. Starting from the second quarter of 2027, inflation will return to the established range. This revision of the forecast reflects the anticipated increase in international prices for oil and food, as well as a higher trajectory of import inflation. BNM highlighted the risks associated with inflation, including uncertainties related to tariff adjustments for regulated services and the impact of weather conditions on agricultural production.
