The national company Nuclearelectrica emphasized the importance of the Small Modular Reactors (SMR) Project in Doicești, stating that it has significant potential for the development of the nuclear industry in Romania. The project is currently in the preparatory phase of Stage 3, which includes activities such as completing geotechnical investigations and continuing the licensing process.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan expressed concerns regarding the investments made, mentioning that Nuclearelectrica has spent over 240 million dollars without concrete results. Nuclearelectrica assured that it will continue the development of the project according to international agreements, considering energy security and decarbonization objectives. The SMR project is an integral part of the company's investment strategy, having the potential to become a model for other similar projects in Europe. Nuclearelectrica collaborates with authorities to ensure the success of this project, which can contribute to increasing installed capacity and the technological evolution of the Romanian nuclear sector.
