At the end of the first quarter of 2025, the assets of private pension funds in Romania increased to RON 165.2 billion, marking a positive evolution.

The Romanian private pension market recorded an 18% increase in total assets, reaching RON 165.2 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2025. Their share in GDP reached 9.44%. The number of Pillar II participants increased to 8.33 million, with an average contribution of RON 403. Pillar III also reached RON 5.86 billion, with 871,972 participants. The average rate of return of the funds was 8.11%. This underlines the importance of private pensions in ensuring long-term financial stability.
