The oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), majority-owned by Gazprom, is considering withdrawing from the Romanian and Bulgarian markets due to financial difficulties. NIS has recently approved the sale of a network of gas stations in Bulgaria and decided to convert outstanding receivables into share capital. The company is also facing US sanctions, which have affected its financial results. NIS dominates the market in Serbia and has an extensive network of gas stations in the region.
