Romanians awaiting compensation for real estate confiscated by the communist regime can now opt for 7 annual installments or a one-off payment of 40% of the set amount. The recently adopted government ordinance changes the procedure for awarding compensation, aiming to ensure fairness and clarity. So far, the state has awarded compensation of 23.2 billion lei for 67,500 cases, and the new legal framework aims to reduce litigation and bring the legislation in line with European standards.
