In March 2025, Romania became the country with the highest inflation in the European Union with a rate of 5.1%. In contrast, average inflation in the EU fell to 2.5%. The National Bank of Romania revised its inflation forecast for the end of 2025 to 3.8%, anticipating stabilization in 2026. The annual inflation rate will fluctuate but is expected to return to the target range in 2026. In March, food prices rose by 5.1% and services prices by 6.99%.
