The interim Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, announced the launch of the European Tech Champions (ETCI 2.0) initiative by the European Investment Bank (EIB), which will mobilize up to 80 billion euros to support European technology companies in the scaling stage.
This initiative addresses the challenges faced by start-ups in the transition to global companies, aiming to facilitate access to capital. Romania plays an important role in this project, being one of the first supporters. Nazare emphasized that Romania's participation in these initiatives will provide Romanian entrepreneurs with more opportunities to attract capital and will strengthen the investment fund ecosystem.
ETCI 2.0 aims to support over 1,500 European technology companies and develop over 100 investment funds.
Nazare highlighted the importance of Romania being a pioneering state in the construction of modern financing instruments, thus contributing to a more competitive economy and strengthening Romania's influence in Europe.
