Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that one of his priorities is investing in electricity storage capacity, to utilize the surplus generated during the day, especially in the warm season, during peak consumption periods, between 6 PM and 10 PM.
During a press conference with European Commissioner Dan Jergensen, Ivan discussed the need to address energy interconnection issues with Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary, emphasizing the importance of finding quick solutions for investment projects. He mentioned that until these projects are completed, which will take at least two years, Romania needs to develop other resources and financial instruments to ensure regional energy needs without relying on imports. The minister also stressed that electricity storage is essential for efficiently managing consumption during peak hours. Romania is hosting an event with 17 energy ministers from the region, highlighting international cooperation in the energy sector.
