The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, had discussions on Tuesday with the European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Valdis Dombrovskis, regarding Romania's fiscal measures and the progress within the excessive deficit procedure. Nazare emphasized that the actions taken to correct the deficit have been appreciated by the European Commission, and the final assessment on November 25 could allow Romania to exit this procedure without additional conditions.
Additionally, aspects related to the restructuring of the national recovery and resilience plan (PNRR) were discussed, including transfers between grants and loans, to ensure the coherence of projects. Essential projects in the fields of transport and health will be integrated into the cohesion programs 2021-2027 to prevent losses of European investments. Nazare also mentioned the digitalization of the budget for 2026, which will allow for transparent planning and monitoring, highlighting the importance of financial stability for attracting investors.
