After 35 years in Greece, the Praktiker brand is gradually being replaced by Dedeman. The process began at the chain’s main store in Tavros, a suburb of Athens, where the signage is being changed and the store is undergoing extensive renovations.
In the coming period, the new name will also be introduced at the other 16 Praktiker Hellas stores. The transition will take place gradually, allowing the chain to be reorganized and operations to be adapted to the Dedeman model. The company will continue operating under the name Dedeman Hellas.
Praktiker Hellas came under the control of Paval Holding in the summer of 2025. The Romanian investment group, controlled by the Pavăl brothers, also owns Dedeman, the market leader in Romania’s DIY sector. Plans to change the name were initiated as early as February 2025, although the replacement of the signage had initially been scheduled for 2027.
In recent months, the company has absorbed the Adam Logistics and Petral subsidiaries and benefited from two capital increases totaling 39 million euros. Changes to procurement, store management and the product portfolio are also being prepared, including the introduction of products manufactured in Romania.
The new owner aims to increase sales and return to profitability. In 2024, Praktiker Hellas reported a turnover of 186.21 million euros and losses of 1.76 million euros.
