Dedeman, owned by brothers Dragoș and Adrian Pavăl, has sued the Romanian State, the Ministry of Transport, and the National Company for Motorways and National Roads, seeking the recalculation of compensation for land expropriated in Iași. The action concerns a 133-square-meter plot in the village of Uricani, Miroslava commune, included in the route of the project “Iași ring road – Stage I – Southern Route – heavy traffic”.
For the land, the authorities set compensation at 671 lei, equivalent to approximately 5 lei per square meter. Dedeman representatives claim they were not legally notified and only learned about the expropriation decision in 2026. The company considers that the amount does not reflect the actual value of the property.
In the application filed with the Iași District Court, Dedeman is seeking compensation of 173,000 lei, approximately 250 euros per square meter. The company is also requesting an expert assessment to determine any depreciation caused by the fragmentation of a 3.5-hectare plot owned by the Pavăl brothers.
The first court hearing has not been scheduled. The Iași ring road project involves the expropriation of 40.9 hectares from 362 owners, for total compensation of 2.2 million lei.
