The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, stated that over one million Romanians have benefited from the first payment through food cards, and 200,000 cards are in the process of being delivered by the Romanian Post. The first loading was completed last month, and the second payment of 125 lei is scheduled for December. Pîslaru emphasized that, after the electoral year 2024, eligibility for these cards will be significantly reduced, from 2.3 million to 1.2 million people, due to a lack of funds. Starting in 2026, a change in the method of social support is expected, shifting from financial transfers to community teams that will provide integrated services to vulnerable individuals.
