OMV Petrom has announced the delivery of the first 20 MW electrolyzer module, intended for the production of green hydrogen at the Petrobrazi refinery, with a capacity of approximately 3,000 tons per year. This hydrogen will support the production of sustainable biofuels, such as SAF and HVO.
The project is essential for transforming the refinery into the largest sustainable fuels hub in the region and contributes to Romania's PNRR objectives.
The remaining three modules will be delivered in the coming months, and the project benefits from 21 million euros in non-reimbursable funds.
Total investments for the SAF HVO program amount to 750 million euros, and the new unit will have an annual capacity of 250,000 tons.
Green hydrogen will be obtained through water electrolysis, using energy from renewable sources, playing a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions.
OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeast Europe, continues to invest in sustainable energy solutions.
