OMV Petrom has completed a new aromatic products unit at the Petrobrazi refinery, following an investment of approximately 140 million euros.
This facility will expand the processing capacity of the refinery, allowing the production of 150,000 tons per year of benzene and toluene, replacing an old unit from 1961.
Radu Caprau, a member of the OMV Petrom Management Board, emphasized the strategic importance of this investment for the modernization of the refinery and the optimization of the production mix. The toluene production capacity will increase by 50,000 tons per year, thus responding to the demand from the petrochemical industry.
This unit is part of a broader modernization program, in which OMV Petrom has invested over 2 billion euros since privatization.
OMV Petrom has a refining capacity of 4.5 million tons per year and operates approximately 780 gas stations in Romania and neighboring countries.
