On Monday, oil prices recorded a significant increase, reaching the highest levels in the last two weeks, with Brent crude at $109.1 per barrel, up 3.56%, and American WTI at $96.93, up 2.68%. This increase was driven by the failure of peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, which fueled concerns about the resumption of energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz. The Trump administration canceled plans to send envoys for discussions with Iran, and the Iranian foreign minister visited Islamabad without meetings with American officials. Analysts at ING emphasize that the lack of progress in negotiations indicates a tense market, while Goldman Sachs has revised its oil price estimates upward, anticipating a slower recovery of exports and production from the Gulf. Iran has sent a new proposal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting a postponement of nuclear negotiations.
